Prerequisite courses are not mandatory, but we do ask students to self-assess whether or not they have the appropriate prior knowledge to build on.

If your course of interest mentions a prerequisite course or "equivalent experience"; take a look at the prerequisite course page for details and gauge whether you can/ have achieved these milestones already. If you have- then the prerequisite course may not be necessary. If you haven't and there are elements that are unfamiliar- taking the prerequisite course would be important to build a good foundation before jumping into a upper level course with prerequisite needs.

• You will be taken to our myEC registration portal to complete all necessary information to register in your course.

• Use the search fields displayed to find your course of interest and continue with the registration process as prompted by the screens.

If a seat is available, you can register online for a course up to 2 business days before the course start date. Some programs may have different registration deadlines. Please check their program webpage for details.

If you are registering less than 2 business days before the course start date, please contact CS Registration during business hours. Our staff will register you into the course if a seat is available.

Seniors (60 years or older) or ECU alumni who have completed an ECU degree program are eligible for a 10% discount on CS courses. Only one discount may be applied at the time of registration. Please contact csreghelp@ecuad.ca to confirm your eligibility and register.

If applicable, GST is included in the tuition displayed.

Be prepared for the first day of class by visiting our Welcome Site, and following the steps.

The Emily Carr OneCard is your permanent Emily Carr University ID card that will provide access to campus facilities as determined by your course registration, including classrooms, shops, studios, and any other areas and resources that are assigned for your specific requirements.

If you are new to ECU Continuing Studies, please make sure you visit our Welcome Site and follow the steps to get ready for your first day of class.

Returning students registered in a Continuing Studies course will have their OneCard automatically reactivated.

All students taking courses on campus must have their OneCard ID to access their classrooms and ECU services.

Materials for individual courses can be found on the CS Materials Guides webpage. Download the PDF to make sure you are prepared for your first day of class. Not all CS courses require materials.

Materials for Teen + Youth courses and programs can be found on their respective course or program webpage.

Materials for your course can be purchased at any art supply store. You may already have suitable materials at home; it is not necessary to purchase new materials for every course.

Opus Art Supplies offers a 10% discount to ECU Continuing Studies students when you present your registration confirmation receipt at one of their retail locations (discount not available for online purchases).

Art supplies can vary greatly in quality and price. Take some time to understand the pacing of the course and your own learning goals to make informed decisions about what to buy.

Courses are scheduled at specific dates and times. Students should refer to their registration statement for course schedules and attend at those times.

Login to Moodle at courses.ecuad.ca using your ECU email credentials.

The link to the virtual Zoom video classroom can be found inside the first block of your Moodle course. If the Zoom link is missing on the day your course begins, please email your instructor directly for access.

Submit an IT help ticket for help.

Once logged into Moodle, your instructor will make your course visible on your dashboard on the course start date.

If you are having issues logging into Moodle, please issue an IT helpdesk ticket through this webform.

Your Moodle password is your myEC password.

To reset your myEC password, please reach out to IT Services using the Authentication Assistance form and include your personal email address as a contact. They will email you a temporary password.

Your course will be visible in Moodle by the course start date. When logged into Moodle, your course(s) can be found on your Moodle ¡®Dashboard¡¯.

If you can't see your course, under the "Course overview' heading, make sure the first filter is "All" or "In progress".

Alternatively, you can also do a search by typing your course mnemonic, section, and the year in the search option following this format: CEDR-100-F002-2023.

If you have any questions or concerns, please issue an IT helpdesk ticket through this webform.

All students will automatically receive their microcredential Skills Badge once they finish their microcredential course successfully! Please allow a few weeks after the course end end date for processing; once your badge has been issued, you will receive word in your ECUAD email. You can then access your badge on Accredible using the unique link provided.

If any student wants to opt out for privacy reasons, they may do so by accessing this link: /cs-accredible-digital-badge-optout

In the event of a course change (including change of instructor, room, date or time), all registered students will be notified by email to their ECU and personal email account.

If a change to the course schedule affects you ability to attend, please contact us as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure we have your most up-to-date email address on file. You can check or update your email by logging into your myEC account or contacting us. If your email address is up-to-date and you did not receive a notification, please check your email spam filter.

Course cancellations may happen if there are not enough students registered, or if there are unforeseen circumstances impacting a scheduled course.

In the event of a course cancellation all registered students will be notified by email. Refunds require up to four weeks for processing and are issued to the original form of payment.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure we have your most up-to-date email address on file. You can check or update your email by logging into your myEC account or contacting us. If your email address is up-to-date and you did not receive a notification, please check your email spam filter.

If you are unable to attend a course, please contact CS Registration as soon as possible to request a withdrawal.

Withdrawing 7 or more calendar days from the course start date.
We can issue a tuition refund or tuition voucher, minus a $35 administration fee per course.

Withdrawing less than 7 calendar days or after the course has started.
Exceptions may be considered, but only for extenuating circumstances and on a case-by-case basis. You may be asked to provide documentation to support your request.

Good to Know:

• Refunds require up to four weeks for processing and are issued to the original form of payment.
• Requests for refunds, course transfer or other special requests will not be granted if received after the course has started or completed.
• Tuition vouchers are valid for up to one calendar year from the date of issue towards any CS course.

Continuing Studies students do not pay Student Union fees and are not eligible to receive a UPass.

Courses completed at other learning institutions may be eligible for Course Transfer. Please contact us to discuss eligibility prior to submitting the Course Transfer Request form and supporting documents.

Students registered in Continuing Studies courses and programs are entitled to library access with their OneCard. You can borrow up to 15 books, graphic novels, or Exhibition Catalogues. For information regarding library services and hours, visit the library website.

The library and ECU Learning Commons is located on the 2nd floor of the campus. The library collection is composed of print resources including books, journals, and exhibition catalogues; a broad range of electronic resources; slide and digital images; films, videos and DVDs; sound effects; artists¡¯ books; the University¡¯s archives; and a menu collection. Some items may be ¡®On Reserve¡¯ for specific courses. Library collections are accessible in-house to all students, faculty and the public.

Educational technologies used in CS courses may store or access your personal information outside of Canada. You are encouraged to read their privacy policies on their website.

You are welcome to contact us if you have any further questions about the use of software for your course.

The majority of our individual courses and workshops are assessed as Pass or Fail, based on the completion of assignments, projects and participation in the course as set out in the course syllabus.

Youth and Teen courses and programs are not currently graded. View the program handbook for the User Experience Design Certificate program for grading information.

To appeal a grade students must return an official Grade Appeal Form with all supporting documents. Read the full policy and download a copy of the form.

Transcripts can be requested by completing the Transcript Request Form online. Please allow up to 7 business days for processing.

Note: Continuing Studies is currently not charging for transcripts. This is subject to change without notice.

When you have completed all required and elective courses toward a part-time certificate program, please submit an online Certificate Completion Request.

We will verify your records prior to processing your request for a Certificate. In the meantime, email CSPrograms@ecuad.ca if you have questions.

Yes, T2202A Tax Receipts are available to download through myEC at the end of February each year. Please note, tax receipts are only issued for amounts over $100 and for courses that are more than 3 consecutive weeks.

As of 2019, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requires all designated educational institutions in Canada to include Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) on T2202 Tuition and Enrolment Certificates and file them with the CRA. If not already provided, submit your SIN through your myEC account (do not email your SIN).

Your myEC login is your ECU email account (myECusername@ecuad.ca), and your myEC password.

For forgotten password, please reach out to IT Services using the Authentication Assistance form and include your personal email address as a contact. They will email you a temporary password.

Update your Social Insurance Number

1. Log into MyEC using your ECU email and MyEC password.
2. On the left navigation, open My Links to select Social Insurance Number (SIN) Information button on the screen (see screenshot below)

You can also update your contact information by going to User Profile in the My Links sub menu.

Yes you can! Purchase a gift certificate redeemable towards our courses, workshops, part-time certificates or teen programs.
