Student nominations for the Advisory Committee are open now! You can nominate yourself or another student.

Do you want to make a long-lasting impact on the Emily Carr community? Are you a champion of equity, diversity, and inclusion? Do you want to gain invaluable experience working with community members across the university and access training opportunities? If so, you should consider becoming a part of the Advisory Committee for the NSERC EDI Capacity Building Grant!

Nomination Criteria for Students

While everyone is welcome to be nominated or self-nominated, students who are part of an equity-denied community* will be prioritized to ensure the Advisory Committee has a significant representation**.

The representatives will bring their lived experiences, enthusiasm and dedication, and their experience in community building, EDI-related work, and/or research to the committee.

As the Advisory Committee will meet in the next academic year as well, the nominee students should be currently enrolled and planning to return for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024.

Compensation:

The student representatives of the Advisory Committee will receive an honorarium that will be determined following the policies of the university.

You can nominate yourself or another student by filling out this form!

The deadline for nominations is Thursday, February 9th.

The duties of the AC members, the details of time commitment and the structure of the Committee can be found in the email announcement sent regarding nominations.

*Equity-denied communities include but are not limited to Indigenous, Black, and People of Color (IBPOC), people of marginalized genders (cis and trans women; Two-Spirit, trans and/or non-binary people), 2SLGBTQIA+, people with disabilities; evident or non-evident, neurodivergent people, (racialized) immigrants, and religious/faith groups.

** Significant representation here means a minimum of 50 percent of the committee consists of people who are part of an equity-denied community.
