Several awards are available to graduating students. Use this Award Finder to see a list of awards for which you MAY be eligible.
Criteria are different for each award. Read award description carefully.

DESIS Radical Sustainability Award: $500
The DESIS Radical Sustainability award honours student projects that best demonstrate how design can “activate, sustain, and orient processes of social change toward sustainability” (Jégou & Manzini 2008).
Ecological Design Graduation Award: TBD
Awarded to a fourth-year Bachelor of Design student (or students) whose work in the Virtual Exhibition demonstrates the potential for significant social and ecological impact.
ECU Graduation Award for Anti-Racism and Social Justice – Design: $500
Awarded to a design student whose work in the Virtual Exhibition explores or responds to anti-Black, anti-Indigenous, or anti-Asian discrimination and racism.
ECU Graduation Award for Anti-Racism and Social Justice – Visual Arts: $500
Awarded to a visual arts student whose work in the Virtual Exhibition explores or responds to anti-Black, anti-Indigenous, or anti-Asian discrimination and racism.
ECU Health Design Award for Innovation: $500
Awarded to a design student who has completed a health-related design project in the Virtual Exhibition that demonstrates innovation in health design.
ECU Health Design Award for Service: $500
Awarded to a graduating design student who has helped develop a service-based project or concept, as a designer to a health project, initiative or organization.
Emily Carr Alumni Association Graduation Award for Community Engagement: TBD
The ECUAA award recognizes students who place community at the centre of their creative practice, stand for a purpose that is bigger than themselves, and explore that which benefits others.
Glenmore Custom Print + Packaging Award: $1,000
Awarded to a Communication Design student exhibiting in the Virtual Exhibition whose work exhibits innovative and well resolved work in the area of commercial printing and/or packaging.
John C. Kerr Chancellor Emeritus Awards for Excellence in Design: $2,000
Awarded for academic excellence combined with work in the Virtual Exhibition in the area of design (undergraduate).
John C. Kerr Chancellor Emeritus Awards for Excellence in Visual Arts: $2,000
Awarded for academic excellence combined with work in the Virtual Exhibition in the area of visual arts (undergraduate).
Judith Warren Painting Award: $1,000
Awarded to an undergraduate visual arts student whose work in the Virtual Exhibition. Preference is towards work in the medium of watercolour.
Mackenzie Award in Painting: $500
Awarded to a student majoring in Visual Arts from the Visual Art & Material Practice program or Graduate Studies Program exhibiting in the Virtual Exhibition working in the discipline of painting.
Mary Plumb Blade Award: TBD
Awarded for excellence in Painting or Printmaking in the Virtual Exhibition.
Opus Art Supplies Graduation Award BFA: $1,000
Awarded to a BFA student exhibiting in the Virtual Exhibition working in the discipline(s) of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography or print media.
Opus Art Supplies Graduation Award MFA: $1,500
Awarded to an MFA student exhibiting in the Virtual Exhibition working in the discipline(s) of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography or print media.
Renée Van Halm + Pietro Widmer Graduation Award for Visual Arts: $1,000
Awarded to an Emily Carr student based on the student’s visual arts work (painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking) in the Virtual Exhibition.
Chick Rice Award for Excellence in Photography: $1,250
Awarded to celebrate an Emily Carr undergraduate student and Photography major whose work in the Virtual Exhibition demonstrates excellent conception, production and execution of their final graduation exhibition piece.
Wood Co-Op/Forestry Innovation Investment in Wood Design Industrial Design Graduation Award: TBD
Awarded to a design student for the development of new wood products; creation of new designs in wood; development of new applications of existing products; and designs which have the potential to solve significant social, economic and/or environmental concerns through the appropriate application of wood products (undergraduate).
Vancouver Art Attack Award: $1,500
Award of excellence to an Emily Carr visual art student based on his or her work in the Virtual Exhibition.
Van Gogh Designs Furniture + Wood Design Graduation Award: $1,000
Awarded to a graduate/undergraduate Industrial Design student working in Wood Design, with a preference given to furniture designers.
WA Architects Ltd Master of Design Graduation Award: $2,000
Awarded to a graduate student exhibiting in the Virtual Exhibition selected through the Graduation Jury process, with a preference given to Canadian citizens.
